Get ahead of the game...
look down below!
1).
PLAN YOUR OUTFITS
- Choose clothing that makes you feel confident and comfortable.
- Stick to neutral tones or complementary colors—avoid logos, loud patterns, or overly bright neon.
- Coordinate (don’t match) outfits for group sessions.
- Bring an extra outfit just in case, especially for longer sessions or unpredictable weather.
2).
GROOMING AND SELF CARE
- Get haircuts or grooming done a few days before (not the day of).
- Keep makeup natural unless a specific look is discussed with the photographer.
- Iron clothes in advance to avoid wrinkles.
- Make sure nails are clean and trimmed (they show in close-ups!).
3).
REST AND HYDRATION
- Get a good night’s sleep before the session.
- Drink plenty of water leading up to the day—hydrated skin looks great on camera.
4).
COMMUNICATE YOUR VISION
- Share any ideas, themes, or inspirations with your photographer ahead of time.
- Send reference photos or a Pinterest board if you have one.
- Let the photographer know about any insecurities or features you want highlighted or minimized.
5).
PACK ESSENTIALS
- Water and light snacks (especially for kids or longer sessions).
- Touch-up makeup or hair products.
- Comfy shoes to change into between shots.
- Any props or accessories discussed (hats, blankets, instruments, etc.).
6).
ARRIVE EARLY
- Plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early to settle in and avoid feeling rushed.
- Double-check the session location and parking ahead of time.
7).
PREPARE THE KIDS AND DOGS
- Talk to your children (and partner!) about what to expect.
- Practice basic commands with your dog—“sit,” “stay,” and “look” are especially helpful.
- Don’t expect perfection. Authentic, candid moments are often the most cherished.
- Be patient—photoshoots can be overwhelming for pets and kids alike.
8).
TRUST THE PROCESS
- Your photographer will guide you with poses and timing.
- Stay relaxed—dogs respond better to calm energy.
- If your dog needs a break or some sniff time, that’s okay! We’ll work around it.
Laugh, snuggle, and let your real bond shine—it makes for the best photos.
9).
BONUS DOG SESSION TIPS
- Groom your dog the day before: trim nails, brush fur, and clean eyes.
- Avoid feeding a full meal right before; instead, use small treats to keep them motivated.
Let your dog explore the shoot location when you arrive so they can settle in.
